Okanagan-IFPA uplift Analysis 2011
The OIFS is a non-profit Society that focuses on  identifying and implementing investment opportunities into the 1.6 million hectares of public forest lands of the Okanagan Timbers Supply Area in British Columbia, Canada. Investments into the forest lands will realize improved growth of the forests which will lead to incremental forestry jobs through timber harvesting and enhanced silviculture activities.

The investment programs and activities are identified by the OIFS in a cooperativeForestry Plan 2007 which  guides on the ground innovative forest practices in the Okanagan Timber Supply Area.
This web site has been designed to provide direct public access to the Forestry Plan 2007 outlining the proposed programs and activities being undertaken by the OIFS.  The Society has prepared   Forestry Plan 2011  for review and comment and the 2011  is now available on this website.

Following 10 years of program investment,  the Society has completed  Vegetation Resource Inventory,   a  Predictive Ecosystem Mapping  of the forestlands within  Okanagan-Shuswap  Forest District,    and has reduced the knowledge gaps in the management of  forest practices within  Mountain Caribou,  and Pine Marten habitat .

The Society has also been instrumental  in providing government with scientific information sufficient  for the  Regional Executive Director of the Southern Interior Forest Region to release the “ Okanagan TSA – Innovative forestry Practices Agreements - Rationale for Increase in Allowable Annual Cut (AAC) Determination  in the Okanagan Timber Supply Area”   effective January 1, 2006.   The  updated Forestry Plan 2011  provides the updated rational to support an extension of the   IFPA AAC uplift  in the Okanagan Timber Supply Area.
